WEDNESDAY - KIDS - TINY MCSMALL

Tiny-mcsmall

If you are considering NOT having children.... do NOT look at Tiny McSmall!  Just browsing through their site will get your clock ticking.  The photos and the models are just stunning.  I wish I could order a few of those kids... okay, getting sidetracked here .... I was VERY hard pressed to find just one thing I loved the most at Tiny McSmall to feature.... so I picked two.  The Princess and The Pea Set and the Commemorative Birthday Crown.  I feel some maternal instincts coming on....

WEDNESDAY - PETS - HEPPER HOME

Hepper-bed

It is true, when looking for pet beds, your options are limited usually to tartan plaid cedar chip stuffed blobs of interior design distraction.  Luckily, the folks at Hepper Home, who were dwelling alongside several cats, designed the innovative and hip pet beds known as the Pod, Podium, Wave, Nest and Roost.  This one, the Nest in Spring Bud Green, features a cozy nook for napping and stashing toys and treats and is lined with sherpa fleece.  Suitable for cats and small dogs up to 50 lbs.  I have to imagine that my 80 lb lab would find a way into this thing....

WEDNESDAY - KIDS - HOBBY HORSE TOYS

Hobby-Horse-Toys

Dan Hillman is single handedly bringing imagination back to kids. Is it really necessary for EVERY toy to be made of plastic and come with AA batteries? Do kids even remember how to make believe anymore? Set your child on the right path to a world of imagination. The Hobby Horse Toys, sold in the US by Craftsbury Kids, are heirloom quality, handcrafted wooden toys, hand painted by Dill Hillman himself in Ireland. All the wood is from his local area and each piece is truly a work of art. Let their imaginations run wild.... just take it away if warlocks, unicorns, or dragons enter their vocabulary. That's just creepy....

WEDNESDAY - PETS - TINY*PRINTS

Pet Announcement

I thought I say it all when it came to pets when I found the Doggles (goggles for dogs... a few weeks back) but this was another one I could not pass up.  I think it has more to do with the sample announcement for "Doug" than anything else.  Tiny*Prints has a fantastic collection of new dog announcements, invitations and thank you notes.  They also have adorable stuff for babies of the 2-legged variety.

WEDNESDAY - KIDS - LORENA SIMINOVICH

Petit-collage

Lorena Siminovich is an illustrator originally from Buenos Aries who now lives in San Francisco.  She became interested in illustrations for children, particularly wall art that is affordable, fun and modern.  She creates collages with recycled and vintage papers mounted on maple plywood.  The collages are bright and tactile and cost around $140 for a 10" x 10" piece of work.  I chose her animal alphabet poster as it runs only $50 for an 18" x 24" print. A reasonable price for a truly unique piece of art for your child's room.

WEDNESDAY - PETS - FUN DOG FRED

Butter-me-up-bowl-water

Today's post is dedicated to Herriot, the epitome of a superb dog.

When you have dinner, do you eat off of a stainless steel plate and drink from a Dixie cup?  No?  Show that same respect for dining to your four legged friends.  I am guilty of the Farm and Fleet water and dog dish that get that nasty calcium build up around the edges... but now that I have seen the "Butter Me Up" water bowl and the "Toad Lily" food bowl... the stainless steel might be headed for the trash.  Check out the rest of Fun Dog Fred for all sorts of pet luxuries to pamper your pooch.

WEDNESDAY - KIDS - KATHE KRUSE

Kathe Kruse Camel

Kathe Kruse is the oldest German doll company that is still operating in the traditional way.  All of the dolls and animals are made by hand... in fact they are made by many many hands.  Each piece will be touched by 8 to 10 craftsmen which is why the dolls take on average 16-36 hours to make.  Let your child's hands grab onto this colorful camel and let the development begin. Before you know it, you'll have your own little prodigy.

WEDNESDAY - PETS - TAILS BY THE LAKE

http://www.tailsbythelake.com/doglifejacket.html

Today's post was inspired by my weekend dog rescue. Our black lab decided to jump in the pool BEFORE the cover was off.  I jumped in fully clothed to rescue our 80 lbs of love and threw out my back in the process.  Needless to say, he is fine, I am in pain, and a life jacket from Tails by the Lake will be ordered momentarily.

WEDNESDAY - KIDS - BABYGEARED

http://www.babygeared.com/crcrmo.html

The Crawling Critters mobile from BabyGeared may be a tad on the pricey side ($180), BUT this one is handmade.  Lou the snail, Steve the centipede, Ziggy the spider, and Willie the worm are painstakingly crafted by hand with cotton, wool felt and free form sewing (aka, no sewing machine).  The back of each critter is a polka dot print.  Sure to make your baby, and you, visually stimulated.

WEDNESDAY - PETS - DOGGLES

Doggles_3_400x400

I'm speechless.  I stumbled upon these Doggles and I almost lost it.  Yes, these are goggles for your dog.  Well not the swim type of goggles but more like sunglasses.  You see, they offer 100% UV protection.  The lenses, which come in a variety of colors, are anti-fog and fit snuggly to your dogs face to protect their precious eyes from wind, foreign objects and the sun.  If you are actually able to get these on your dog and have them stay on, you win a prize.
