Sunday - Is this Indie? - Calou

Today's category is supposed to be Indie. I have no idea if this Indie or not...but it's terribly cool and I just can't wait to share....so indie-shmindie - say hello to - Calou. 

I have been on the hunt for clogs for eons and each time Blomma-girl makes a suggestion or two about clogs I stand up and cheer. And when she presented her accessory idea for clog-wearing-women, well my hunt became even more serious. At last- for more birthday - I made the plunge and purchased a pair of these....although it has taken nearly a half trip around the sun to break them in...I am quite pleased.

But...But...But...Look what happened?

  I made another clog discovery. Handmade. Swedish. Unique. Pretty. Calou. Rats! Because I am having a little trouble rationalizing buying another pair of clogs (even though technically these are more like clog-shoes...clog-boots), I would like to give permission to any of the readers to go out and buy a pair for yourselves. Do it. Please! And then, let me know so I may  live all my days vicariously through your Calou-wearing-feet. Okay?

Friday - Wear - Anne et Valentin

Once upon time, I broke my beloved glasses. However, thanks to a hot glue gun and a questionable piece of wire, my specs were fixed...for an ENTIRE YEAR!

Once upon time, my husband begged me to buy new glasses.

And so I did...21 days it takes Anne et Valentin to creeate one pair of  glasses - that's the same amount of time it takes me to run a mile.  On that fact alone....I have only one long made-up word to express my love for Anne Et Valentin - Halle-sweet glasses-lujah.

SURPRISE!

Oh I am so naughty! Shh...don't tell Blomma - but I am sneaking in here for a post or two...Remember me? Your ol' pal, Peg? I popped in for a couple of weeks awhile ago and although I had permission to do so then...this time, I'm...what do you call it in blog-talk? I'm hacking? No...that's not it...well whatever it's called...I'm posting without permission! Shame. Shame. Shame...but also HOORAY!

I don't even know what today is...let's see, Thursday - Green. Oh dear. Okay. Pretend it's Monday - Home.  I guess when you break-in to a blog you can do this kind of thing...I guess.

So, Monday - Home - Postertext!

'We create art that harmonizes literature with imagery in the form of beautiful, elegant posters.' I couldn't say it better - although are posters elegant? Hmm...anyway, Postertext takes memorable scenes from classic tales and expresses it with creative style. And maybe to make the whole thing slightly more stylish...wear one of these so you can read the teeny-teeny-teeny text.  Just imagine having a dinner party where everyone starts bragging about all of the books they've read - you can just simply point to your wall and say 'I'm pretty sure I'm smarter than you'.

TUESDAY - COOK - PLENTY DESIGN

Quick post featuring the wonderful From Sthlm... the newsletter that features a new Swedish designer every month.  This month's feature is Plenty Design's Marten Lindquist... his bread bags are constructed from vintage kitchen linens and hand embroidered by his mother!  These bags keep fresh bread soft on the outside and crispy on the outside.  And for $25, you can't go wrong...

MONDAY - HOME - FLEET

Fleet sells a line of ceramic tableware consisting of several vessels and lids.  They can be used in any combination for multiple purposes such as; tradition tableware, desk accessories, vases, jewelry holders, serving ware etc....  The collection is called "pool" and the color objects for each piece include white, mint, light blue, azure and light grey.  

SATURDAY - PAPER - RUKA RUKA

Ruka Ruka is a family run print studio out of London that specializes in simple prints for kids that illustrate the basic principles of color theory.  There are several options to personalize the art with your child's name or birthdate or get one without any personalization at all.  Just a warning... they are expecting a baby in March so if you want to place an order, do so by the end of February!!

Beau Ties Ltd of Vermont is the premiere source of handmade bow ties and neckwear.  The bow ties are all made in Vermont from the finest silk fabrics.  They have a plethora of colors, stripes, dots, patterns and solids perfect for weddings, reunions, college parties or everyday awesomeness.  

THURSDAY - GREEN - MADE IN THE RED BARN

We are all at fault for using too many paper napkins and paper towels.  I have hundreds from Costco in my basement.  I will go through them (may not use them all until 2012 but hey) and then I will commit to using cloth napkins going forward.  Made In The Red Barn is an Etsy shop out of Seattle that sells the "unpaper" towel.  Made from birdseye fabric, the weave and texture makes them super absorbent and easy to launder.  They have hand dyed towels in colors like cranberry, avocado, mustard, spice, peacock and Caribbean blue.  Set of 12 costs $20.  But just think, you will never have to lug a pallet of paper home from Costco ever again.  

WEDNESDAY - KIDS - ELIAS & GRACE

Ever wonder where Kate Moss or Jude Law buy their kids' clothes?  Me neither.  But apparently, they can be found shopping at Elias & Grace and one can see why.  It's like the UK version of Crew Cuts.  I didn't even pay attention to the prices... the kids are just so darn adorable!
