Straight out of Missoula, Montana comes Piper and Paisley handmade hats. All of the newsboy style caps are made to sit slightly over the ears. They are fully lined and have a built in elastic sweatband. The silhouette is very feminine and totally unique. All are embellished with some kind of tweed flower or wood button. The perfect accessory for fall! Prices are fair too at about $45 each... and they are handmade of course!
My favorite source for eco-friendly gifts is Viva Terra. Hands down the best collection. I know it's a little early, but I couldn't resist these two pieces from their holiday collection. Recycled Rover is made from tightly woven and corded recycled newspapers. Adorable. And the felted wool wreath is sure to be a holiday staple. The best wreath, and most eco-friendly, is the one you can use year after year. Perfect to leave hanging through valentine's day!
I love this new line of rustic Italian ceramic pieces from Sur La Table. The bright glazes make then an instant attention grabber. The earthenware pieces are all dishwasher safe and you can choose from olives platters, olive bit bowls, pitchers, platters, bowls and even salt jars. Reasonably priced and ready to adorn your Thanksgiving table.
If you're a fan if linen, then you will love the Etsy shop Spool and Sparrow. All of her items are made from linen or other eco-friendly natural fabrics and most are hand printed with her custom block stamps. Pillows, tea towels, the linen pouffes and even aprons and smocks for kids. Prices are very fair and the designs are simple yet beautiful.
RIBBON!!!! I have a fascination with ribbon and the Brooklyn General Store has loads of good stuff! If you are into making belts or adorning pillows or tablecloths.... hop to it! Another idea, stolen from a very cool house of an old friend, is to wind up balls of colorful ribbon and place them in apothecary jars as an accent piece. Oh, by the way, the CRAFT category is new!
Call me a direct marketers dream but I love the fall CATALOGS! Got my LL Bean Signature book the other day and wow. I'm in love with their archive collection... they bring back vintage LL Bean styles. Like orange wool pants! Love it! Um, I suppose I am also a sucker for the mens collection, thanks to the models. I just imagine the blond at the top saying... "hey, want to go for a ride in my handmade wooden kayak?" Yes please.
Saw these on Daily Candy and had to share them with all of you. That Funky Boutique, by Angella Eisman, features pillows made from 100% recycled merino wool, wool blends or cashmere sweaters. All are handmade in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC and the prices are very fair. $28-$42.
As you all know, I am a dog lover so when I stumbled upon Loose Leashes, the site of photographer Ron Schmidt, I was sold. Ron spent his time being a photographers assistant for celebrities and supermodels but his love of dogs and desire to capture those perfect canine moments was too hard to resist. A few years ago, Loose Leashes was born. Most prints are 8x10 and can be purchased unframed, framed or matted and framed. Of course a portion of all sales is donated to support animal rights.
I'm a sucker for colorful bowls and if they're tiny, even better. It's amazing the endless uses in the kitchen for tiny bowls. I've found a few bright options to put a little color into a dreary fall day.
