Bookend, doorstop, paperweight, decorative accent.... the Zuny animal collection serves many purposes. Most are made from leather with iron sand filler. There are so many different animals and colors to use from. Go for the classic hippo in natural leather or go crazy and get the deer in hot pink. Add a little whimsy to your boring office.
Floral arrangements that aren't fresh.... hmmm.... I'll admit I was a skeptic... UNTIL I saw Flores Del Sol's shop on Etsy!!! Blown away I tell you. She is a professional floral designer and full time mom who creates these amazing arrangements in vintage yet modern vessels. She uses mosses and professionally preserved flowers that are soft to the touch and will last for years. This is not your craft store faux floral disaster... this is gorgeous! As the site says, Old Tom Foolery is "unsappy, uncrappy letterpress greetings". The footnotes collection is priceless. The "You're having a baby" one is my favorite! Note the footnote - "Scared shitless yet?". Hysterical! Cards sold individually and some in sets. Check them out!
The Splendid collection of clothing at Shoptwigs is the epitome of comfort. Like the coffee knit long cardigan made from supima cotton and modal for $72 or the rugby stripe v-neck tee for $75. Splendid indeed!
I have to admit that my boatload of reusable grocery bags and totes ends up buried at the bottom of my closet. BUT, I am going to make an effort to USE them! Sunday, I took my graphic print Envirosax with me to the farmer's market. I managed to haul back a couple ears of corn, a dozen potatoes, a gallon of Oberweis ice cream (okay, Oberweis was not at the farmer's market but they were darn close to it). This sak was the best because it conformed to whatever you put in it. Folds up to a super small size and can hold up to 44 lbs! Only $8.50 and the patterns are very cool.
Flora and Henri is a breathtaking kids clothing boutique with shops in New York and Seattle. Serving kids from infant to 10 years old, you can also purchase through their catalog or website. The European fabrics and expert craftsmanship make their pieces truly one of a kind. Perfect for that special occasion... I'm not sure I would let my kid out in the backyard in a $100+ dress but I guess that's what OxyClean is for right? Check them out at least for inspiration.
Ceramist extraordinaire.... Kim Westad. Her work is absolutely gorgeous!!! A former graphic designer, who couldn't sit behind a computer for one more minute, started her own ceramics studio in May 2004. Thank goodness she did! Where else could one find a red latte bowl with slip dots in white? Um, no where.... Or a whirl olive dish with red accents? Macy's? I think not. Her Etsy shop also has seconds that are priced at 50% off. I have a feeling my raisin bran would taste much better out of one of her cereal bowls.
Pink Buffalo is the shop of Kelly, an elementary school teacher from Buffalo, NY and an avid crafter. The simplicity of her pieces really stood out to me among the many many many jewelry listings on Etsy. It is tough to get noticed in that category but she deserves a second, third and fourth look!
