WEDNESDAY - KIDS - BIOME 5

Gallery02

BioME 5 is a project that started in the minds of two architectural designers.  The alphabet project clothing line features 100% certified organic cotton tees for toddlers (2T-6T) and babies.  The shirts are tag-less and preshrunk.  Each letter represents a different animal and the inverted text is no mistake.... it ensures that the animal name is readable only from your child's vantage point.  The animals range from Alligators, Bears, Camels and Dogs to Walrus, Xenops (a bird of some sort), Yaks, and Zebras.  They are available in short and long sleeve.... looks like right now the long sleeve are on sale for $27!  Grab one for every day of the week... Monday/Monkey, Tuesday/Tortoise, Wednesday/Walrus...

TUESDAY - COOK - BENGT & LOTTA

Bengt_cake_stand

I got REALLY lucky finding Huset! Huset means "the house" in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian and this Huset is a one stop shop for the BEST in Scandinavian design (okay, I'm in a Scandinavian design rut and I don't care).  This cake stand from Bengt & Lotta is so unique!  It's actually made of birch wood and laminated with a high pressure bonding and coating ... type method... type thing.  Anyway, it is SURE to take away all of the cake's attention.  Check out the rest of Huset for some truly awesome home accessories.

MONDAY – HOME – INGEBRETSEN’S

Swedish_birds

If you are ever in Minneapolis and feel the bug to get a little Scandinavian culture, head to Ingebretsen's.  They are a family owned and operated retail store that has been dedicated to providing food and gifts from Scandinavia for over 86 years.  If Minneapolis isn't on your glide path, Ingebretsen's luckily has a great website where you can find items like these adorable Swedish wooden birds.... A bargain at $10.  They come in white, red or slate and would liven up a dining table, mantle or windowsill.  You don't need to be Swedish to appreciate the simple design of these little creatures.

SUNDAY - INDIE - UP IN THE AIR SOMEWHERE

Upintheairsomewhere

I don't recall how I was fortunate enough to find this etsy shop... Up In The Air Somewhere.  The shop features contemporary housewares inspired by the industrial architecture of Chicago.  The silo votive above is one of many pieces that reflect this architecture.  Her work is available in ceramics, paper mache and fiber.  Truly amazing stuff and she's a local girl!  Oh, did I forget to mention the best part?  This GORGEOUS votive is only $15.  Now go BUY HANDMADE!

SATURDAY - OUTDOOR - MATCHSTICK GARDEN

Matchstick_garden

Need a wedding favor?  Treat for a birthday goodie bag?  Stocking stuffer?  The Matchstick Garden is the perfect thing.  Tear out a matchstick, plant it tip down in soil and wait for your plant to grow.  There are two different varieties: mixed herb garden (basil, chives, parsley and thyme) or the wildflower set (cornflower, shasta daisy, corn marigold and field poppy).  You can even plant them in a pot indoors to grow year round.  People are so clever. They are a bargain at about $2.50 a pack!

FRIDAY - WEAR - PLUNKET & PIVET

Crowmakeup_r2_c2

Plunket & Pivet is an adorable site for purses and makeup bags such as the Raven bag pictured above.  While I guess you can't technically WEAR a makeup bag, you do wear it's contents so it qualifies.  The Raven print is also available in a "slouchy" bag as well.  The clutches are just gorgeous but I couldn't take every photo from her site.  The designer, Sarah, was raised in Germany but now resides in the US of A.  So I'm dying to know, Sarah, if you are out there, please tell us what the origins of "Plunket" and "Pivet" are.....

THURSDAY - GREEN - GREENER GRASS DESIGN

Sunjarnight_copy

Ever wish you could capture summer in a jar and use it all year long?  Well the sun jar at Greener Grass Design does just that.  The jar is made by a UK company and is essentially a frosted mason jar with 3 warm LED lights inside.  The sun charges the batteries during the day and the warm glow starts as soon as the real sun goes down.  The jar is completely airtight so you can even leave it outside in the elements.  Here comes the sun.....

WEDNESDSY - PETS - WETNOZ

Studiowetnoz

High design for dogs.  That would be WETNoZ (pronounced wet nose in case you didn't get it).  They have a line of luxury pet products that won't interfere with you Eames era kitchen table and chair set.  The Studio Line of feeding products, like these scoop n' serve dog dishes, are made of durable plastic with rubber feet.  As they say, cuts down on the time from the food getting from the bag into doggy's tummy.  The rubber feet ensure that the dish won't traverse the entire kitchen floor.  Other dishes are available in stainless steel but are a little bit more pricey.  Who says your pooch won't appreciate good design huh?

TUESDAY - COOK - ZACCARDI'S

Pancake_molds

HAPPY EARTH DAY!  I thought today I would feature the most eco-friendly and fuel efficient methods of transportation out there.... truck and plane PANCAKES!  No need here for ethanol or bio-diesel.... just some good sticky sweet maple syrup (harvested responsibly from Vermont's finest trees of course).  If I were a 4 year old boy, I would think this was the coolest thing on earth.  Check them out for only $9.99 at Zaccardi's

MONDAY - HOME - LILLE A SHOP

Lilleshopbowl

Lille A Shop has a wonderful selection of simply modern home and personal accessories like this vase from Dibbern (a German company known for their fine bone china).  It was quite a challenge to pick just one thing from this online boutique as there are so many unique things.  Lille A Shop started as a storefront in Chicago in 2000 and went online only in 2007.  Thank heaven for the internet!
